Alien: Covenant -UPDATE.

Just a brief update on the production of Alien: Covenant. Filming is scheduled to begin sometime later next week and the crew is setting up in Fiordland National Park, New Zealand. Thanks to Dread Central and AVP Galaxyfor sharing a first look at the set being constructed on location.

It definitely looks like the entrance or loading dock for a ship, is this part ofthe doomed Covenant? Possibly, but nothing is certain until we get further along into filming. This brings me back to the feeling of excitement and curiosity when the first set pics of Prometheus were leaked. Let’s hope for a stronger entry into the franchise this time around.

Recently Billy Crudup was cast in “Key” role. You remember Billy from his Blue Penis Days in 2009’s Watchmen.

Alien: Covenant will be released August 4, 2017.

The cast has been set and includes – Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez.

As reported earlier Noomi Rapace will not be joining the mission this time around, however an official announcement has yet to be made. Here’s hoping for a cameo!

All we know of plot so far is the official synopsis –

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

REVIEW: Independence Day Issue #1

It’s been pretty quiet in regards to Independence Day: Resurgence or “IDR” as it’s being called now. A throwback to the originals “ID4” abbreviation. The last thing let loose on the public was the explosive Super Bowl TV spot.

However now the first issue in the 5 issue prequel comic series has been released. Issue #1 simply titled Independence Day comes from Titan Comics and is written by Victor Gischler with artwork by Steve Scott.

I’m pretty new to the “Comic” world and I’m reviewing this series because it is a movie tie-in. There fore this will be more geared to it’s relation to the films than comparing to other comics.

The story picks up right near the end of the original Independence Day in 1996. A “Different” ship the same size as the City Destroyers escapes the destruction of the Alien Mother ship, it is damaged by debris from the explosion and crashes into the Atlantic Ocean.

We are quickly introduced to Captain Meredith, a prickly Her way or the highway type. She’s in charge of a submarine that has been laying low during the Alien battle but has now been ordered to surface. A team is being sent to investigate the crashed Alien ship and the sub must surface to pick them up.

The investigating team is led by Dr. Jessica Morgan along with her military liaison Captain Joshua Adams. We were told when the comic was first announced that the prequel story would follow a character that will be appearing in RESURGENCE and we now know Joshua Adams is hat character. He will be portrayed by William Fichtner and will have made the jump from Captain to General Adams once he makes his big screen debut.

The rest of the story takes place from Adam’s point of view, his character was part of US intelligence and was a key player in co-coordinating the counter attack on the aliens once the shields were taken down.

The comics first few pages offer some insight and background to the events taking place prior, one page offers a profile on Adam’s which gives us a brief back story and reason for his importance. It’s some nice extra info I hope each issue moving forward continues with.

And of course his biggest drawback is that he is afraid of the ocean. So what better person to lend his expertise to a deep sea dive mission right?

The set up to this story holds strong similarities to the book and movie adaptation “Sphere”. In fact it’s all I could think about while reading through. There’s nothing new or groundbreaking coming from this story which honestly wasn’t expected to begin with.

And as with most #1’s this issue suffers from having to cram character introductions and plot points into a few pages with very little action.

Once our team makes it’s way to the bottom of the ocean it comes across the downed Alien craft. Immediately they can see the hull is breached and they ponder going in on foot. Captain Meredith becomes the typical high strung person in charge who feels she’s being undermined by everything. Adams and Jessica don’t offer much else. Most of the time the crew spends arguing over who is in charge or what to do next.

In a short scene of suspense the Alien ship sends out two drones to scout the area. The submarines crew have come to the conclusion that the ship’s systems must be damaged and therefor are in the blind. One drone heads for the surface while the other heads directly for the submarine.

Tempers flair as the crew tries to figure out what to do. The first drone destroys the military vessel waiting topside, Adam’s is finally able to convince the Captain that the Alien shields are down and that a torpedo would be able to take it down. Of course he’s right and the Sub is saved.

Then the crew suits up and heads for the downed ship. They enter through the breach in the hull, once inside they realize it is safe to breath. After taking off their helmets the troupe begins to explore further into the ship. But their tour gets cut short as SURPRISE an Alien drops down from the ceiling, wrapping it’s wiggling tentacles around an unsuspecting soldier. The issue ends here with a “To Be Continued…”

This story is nothing we havent seen before, but it’s still an interesting premise. When one thinks of ID4- space, explosions and packed crowds running for their lives come to mind. So setting this story under water with a more claustrophobic atmosphere is nice change of pace. Now that the story and characters are in place I’m hoping the action picks up more in the coming issues. I’m very curious to see what the Aliens and their technology will look like in RESURGENCE and I’m hoping to see glimpses of the new designs down the line. The writer and artist were treated to the RESURGENCE script and concept art so I’m hoping it so that they could implement some of that into the comics.

The art as far as i could tell was standard comic art, the humans are pretty realistic looking and Joshua Adams was definitely drawn in the likeness of Mr.Fichtner. Unfortunately most of the scenes take place in the sub with very drab lighting, and nothing really stands out as anything special.

However the art really shines in scenes out in the water or with the aliens themselves. The scenes involving water are brilliant and bright with color and offer a much needed change to the boring sub panels. Scott was also able to capture a feel of menace once the Alien in it’s frightening bio suit makes its appearance.

All in All i’d say if your a fan of the movies and looking forward to RESURGENCE then this series may be worth the $3.99. There isn’t anything spectacular so far but it’s still fun to spend a little more time in the ID4 world.

Scream Queens Update

SCREAM QUEENS: L-R: Lea Michele, Billie Lourd, Abigail Breslin, Emma Roberts and Niecy Nash in the “Mommie Dearest” episode of SCREAM QUEENS airing Tuesday, Nov. 10 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2015 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Patti Perret/FOX.

FINALLY we have official character and plot details as well as confirmed cast for Season 2 of Scream Queens.

The cast of season one joined Brad Fulchuk  who created the show along with wonderboy Ryan Murphy for Paley Fest this past Saturday. During a panel Brad and the cast talked about the experience of season one as well as what we can expect going forward.

First the cast. We have official confirmation that Glen Powell, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer& Billie Lourd will be returning as their original characters from season one. I am so happy we got the rest of the Chanel’s back, it just wouldn’t be the same without #3 & 5. We have Keke Palmer’s Zayday Williams back but noticeably missing is her bestie and season one protagonist GRACE played by Skyler Samuels.

I think most would agree that Grace was the least interesting character from season one and I’m sure the Scream Queens crew took notice. I literally wanted to rip my eye balls out whenever she was on screen. Who we all want to see are the Chanel’s and I’m going to guess they will probably be more front and center than last season.

These returning cast mates join the already confirmed Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Niecy Nash & Jamie Lee Curtis.

All in all I am very happy with the returning cast and so excited to see who they cast as the four new characters who we know will be doctors. I’m going to assume Glen Powell’s Chad will be one of the doctors, I mean that practically writes itself with the kind of character he is. Harry Styles has been rumored to be joining the cast since season one was still airing. However we got the official answer as to whether or not he will be appearing and the answer is NO.

This doesn’t bother me one way or the other since I’m not a screaming thirteen year old girl. He’s cute but…I mean so are a lot of actual actors.

Now on to the story details that were revealed. Here is a quote from Brad himself from an article by Deadline

“Dean Munsch has moved on to great success, she’s abolished the Greek system in the country…she’s written her book, she’s traveled the world, and is like, ‘I need a new mission”

He went on to say that the beloved Chanel’s have  – “flipped and taken their education seriously while in the institution”

It was revealed that the main story will follow Munsch as she buy’s a hospital that she will run to her own liking as well as take on any weird or strange case that no one else will. She will be joined by Zayday who is working under the Dean as she furthers her career as a med student (Wasn’t she trying to be a politician?).

Also attending med school and working at the hospital will be the three Chanel’s who have been exonerated and freed from the asylum we last saw them condemned too.  We are left wondering for the time being as to whether “flipped” applies to personality when it comes to the Chanel’s. Their main selling points are their sharp tongues and fabulous outfits.

I think i speak for all that when i say we hope both aspects of these characters remain intact somehow.

Denise Hemphill is back as a high ranking FBI agent who gets caught up in a new murder investigation taking place at the hospital. Little was said about lea Michele’s “Hester” other than she will be intimately connected to the events going on.

Season 2 will begin filming this summer in time for the fall season but no air dates have been set. Scream Queens is one of several shows moving filming to California due to the new tax incentives. Season one filming took place in New Orleans.

REVIEW: 10 Cloverfield Lane

I was just about as shocked as anyone when I heard that a Cloverfield sequel had been in the works. And not only that, the movie was already filmed and finished and would be releasing THIS year. J.J. Abrams is not a stranger to stunts and mystery when it comes to films he’s involved with and this case is no different.

I’m going to start out with a negative that really has nothing to do with the film itself. The marketing I feel has done a great injustice to this film by trying to shoe horn it in to the  “Cloverfield Universe” because you know everything has to be connected so we can have a franchise on our hands.

This movie has NOTHING to do with 2008’s Cloverfield, a movie in which a giant “kaiju” monster wreaks havoc on hot twenty somethings in New York. The ONLY fucking tie is a scene in the very beginning of the movie where Mary Elizabeth Winstead is pumping gas at a gas station and you can seen a “SLUSHO” sign in the window. For those of you who aren’t total nerd freaks SLUSHO was a brand of Icee type beverage that existed in the Cloverfield movie’s VIRAL MARKETING. It wasn’t even prominent in the actual fucking movie. There’s a whole back story and comic I believe that delves deeper into the slusho mythos or whatever.

But there is no way in hell the casual movie going audience would know that. which means people are going into this movie expecting a giant fucking monster and what did they get? A very intense three person stage play.

Not that it’s a bad thing. This was a fantastic “Little” movie filled with standout performances. Performances undermined by the fact that suddenly what was originally called “The Cellar” had the name Cloverfield slapped onto it. John Goodman most likely will not be getting the nominations or at least recognition he deserves because let’s face it, Nobody takes monster movies seriously. Especially a “Sequel” to one.

Now on to my thoughts on the actual film itself. I’m going to try and judge it on its own merits and not lean to heavily on the Cloverfield aspect although it will have to come up once or twice.

The film starts with Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) packing up her shit and high tailing it outta town. Away from her troubles, commitment and unaware boyfriend. Already I like this chick. Most times men are the ones portrayed as total cowards who run away from their problems but this time around we are introduced to a female character who 1. Has relate able issues male or female. 2. Isn’t a virginal sweetheart 3.Doesn’t need to find her strength.

Michelle begins and ends the movie as a very strong active protagonist. her ark is not finding the strength to survive, she already has that. Her ark is something a little more down to earth and human. Home girl needs to stop running from her problems. I don’t know about you but i can TOTALLY relate.

On her way to wherever she’s going she gets T boned and rolls off the road. Next thing she wakes up in a cement cell, a cast on her leg as well as a hefty chain attached to the wall. She isn’t going anywhere. Immediately we feel her panic. I have always been a fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead ever since Final Destination 3 and she proves here her capability as an actress. She conveys so much of her emotions with just a look, much of what she is feeling is said through her facial expressions because she doesn’t get a whole lot of time to speak her mind while in her predicament.

Soon heavy footsteps are heard and her cell door frightfully squeals open. The sound work is TOP NOTCH and really adds to the tension on screen. We dread hearing those footsteps and when we finally do we know trouble is coming. Instead that it doesn’t. Not right away at least. John Goodman’s Howard is scary, troubled and yet somehow full of heart. John Goodman conveys Howard’s madman antics with such earnest that despite his atrocities you begin to feel for him.

I thought it took Howard a little too long to tell Michelle what the hell was going on although it does add to the suspense. Through out the movie as we are trying to unravel the mystery of whats happening topside loud booms and groans can be heard from outside. What could it be? Aliens? Russians? Perhaps the monster from the previous film? Who knows. All we know is that Michelle is trapped in a basement with a giant madman spouting apocalyptic reasons as to why they cannot go outside.

There’s a third character along for the ride in  John Gallagher Jr. ‘s  Emmett. There isnt a whole ton to delve into with Emmett. But John Gallagher Jr is  able to portray who his character is in a very short amount of time, and as soon as you think he may become annoying he flips to endearing instead. which is good because in one of the most intense scenes between our three characters he gets a bullet to the head from Howard.

The middle of the movie is your standard captive captor back and forth and sort of slows down until Emmett’s death. This marks the beginning of the third act. By this point we have discovered that something HAS indeed happened topside. Michelle is forced to turn away a survivor she encounters during one of her escape attempts. A woman shows up looking all kinds of jacked outside of the bunker entrance begging to be let in. Seeing that there is something wrong with the outside Michelle turns away.

Except TWIST Howard IS fucking crazy, just not about what we originally thought. Turns out he may have abducted a young woman before and kept her captive, not to mention killing Emmett in cold blood. So Michelle fashions herself a home made hasmat suit complete with soda bottle gas mask and pushes a barrel of acid onto a fallen Howard.

This is where the claustrophobic thriller turns into a sci-fi horror film. Howard scarily stalks Michelle as she tries to escape via ventilation shaft. A hugely tense scene as he violently stabs his buck knife through various points of the shaft trying to search out Michelle.

The bunker goes out in flames and Michelle manages to escape via freezing the exit lock and bashing it off. Once topside She quickly realizes that the air is NOT contaminated and she is able to breath freely without her gas mask. All seems totally normal outside, as she climbs to the roof of a car to get a better look  TWIST remember that crazy comment Howard said about aliens earlier? SURPRISE! he was right. We get a fantastic somewhat stunning revelation as we see what appears to be an Alien craft slowly surveying Howard’s farmland.

Some people may be put off because at this point we had been watching a slow boiling drama and now we are dumped into crazy land. The vaginal looking craft drops what I guess is some kind of alien hunting dog to the ground to sniff out Michelle after she inadvertently starts a car alarm. A brief chase ensues and Michelle is eventually captured by the alien space craft. But in a scene that is EERILY similar to a scene from  Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, Michelle fashions a Molotov cocktail and tosses it into the ships gaping orifice.

Here she comes full circle with the ark she began at the start of the film. She finds a car that works and speeds off down the highway. She begins to get static filled messages from the radio telling survivors that it is safe in Baton Rouge and that anyone listening should head there. However the war is being fought in Houston and it is close to being won BUT they are in need of more fighters to make it happen. Michelle decides that instead of running to safety she is going to fight. she shifts gears and peels off to Houston as lightning illuminates larger ships hidden within the clouds.

All in All this is film is definitely worth the admission ticket despite having close to nothing to do with Cloverfield. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and although we’ve scene similar movies like this before, the direction, performances and twists sets this film well above the rest. Tell me what you thought in the comments below!

Gay for PAY.

As you can see I’m practicing with click bate. Despite what the title implies this post has nothing to do with SEX;)

Greetings every (one) of you! Haven’t posted anything in a bit because I’ve been SO busy being a bum and doing nothing creative on my free time. Also I’ve been trying to rack up more hours at work so that’s been pretty draining.

Why am I killing myself with an over load of work you ask? Someone as adorable and brilliant as me shouldn’t have to work so much right? Sadly even I suffer from the same debilitating disease that you have known as BILLS.

Which leads me to today’s topic. MONEY.

Money is fucking awful and also completely necessary in order to survive. Whoever said money doesn’t buy happiness was fucking liar. And it always seems like there’s just never enough. And something that really has been stressing me out even more so than bills is what other queens think or feel about MY money.

I’m finding out that there is a huge stigma regarding how much money you have. I’ve noticed people that I’m coming into contact with in my community are super ass hats when it comes to your bank account. If your broke your a loser. And that’s that.

Doesn’t seem to matter WHY your broke. Just the fact that you don’t have a ton of money to throw at alcohol on Friday night means your a total loser.

If you know me personally then you know that I tend to always be broke or at least trying to stick to a budget and not wanting to just randomly spend. And certain people have made it known how annoying they think that is. I’ve had the phrase “Get your shit together” said to me a ton of times.

Well this ones for you jack hole.

The reason I’m broke all the time is BECAUSE I’m getting my shit together. Guess what? Health care is fucking expensive, you know what else? so are bills and food and general living costs that help keep me off the street. Not all of us feel totally fine by letting some saggy old nut sack pay for everything for me.

Side Note: Having a sugar daddy does not mean you have your shit together. I only mention this because Ive had one of these sugar baby sluts call me out on being broke before.

I take GREAT pride in being able to support myself. I don’t make millions at my glamorous job and for now as long as i can keep a roof over my head and some hot pockets in the freezer I’m happy with that.

Yeah I don’t always have the money for a fun night out but it doesn’t mean I’m a loser. I work really fucking hard to be able to have what I do. And just because you may make a ton of money at this point in your life, doesn’t mean that everyone has gotten there just yet. So calm your tits and Netflix n chill with me instead. Jk because i also don’t have a TV right now. A microwave is my next house hold purchase. You know. For the hot pockets.

In closing don’t be a fucking prick if your friend can’t go to that huge block party because his rent is due the same day. It honestly feels so awful knowing how hard you’ve worked for what you have just to have someone come along and shame you for not having more.

One day when my sex tapes leak or I invent a new type of super weapon I’ll be rolling in the Benjamin’s. But for now I’m fine with rolling around with some guy named Benjamin in bed instead, And knowing that I don’t have to worry about my phone being shut off or what I’m going to eat tomorrow.

Good day:)
