Good Morning and Happy Hump Day! Since there seem to be a heavy flow of news the past few weeks for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters I thought I’d discuss what we know so far.
Since the announcement that the next Ghostbusters movie would be led by an all female cast, the nerd population has collectively scrutinized every single detail to become available. Not too mention the hundreds of small town hicks (who’ve only ever felt the inside of a goat) that took to twitter to bash the very idea of a WOMAN doing THEIR Ghost – Busting.
I however welcome this small but fresh switch up to the Ghostbusters formula. Especially with a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy,Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon AND one of my many husbands Chris Hemsworth.
How can you not be even just a little excited? I absolutely LOVE the fact they took the gender swap thing all the way and cast Chris Hemsworth as the new receptionist. Who may be getting some action in the film as well since he was seen riding the Ecto 2 – A retrofitted Motorcycle- on the set during filming.
Here is the OFFICIAL Synopsis –
With paranormal activity on the rise, a Columbia University academic, her ghost-chasing friend, the friend’s business partner, and an MTA employee join forces to bust ghosts and save New York
Not much we can really gleam from that however more tidbits of the story have been released since. Kristen Wiig will be playing a teacher at a prestigious school who’s reputation is ruined and must join forces with past colleagues to regain former glory and also rid the city of the ghosts of real historical criminals. The main ghostly villain of the film will be- voiced/played? by Neil Casey.
When I first heard that the villains this time around would be former real life criminal I was a little underwhelmed. Then again how could you top the OG Ghostbusters antagonist? And Stay Puft anyone? I’ll wait to see how these ghosts are uh – fleshed out to make any kind of judgment. One SUPER interesting rumor going around is that a familiar face may be making an appearance for the FIRST time on screen.
Take a look at the newest poster for the film. Not really anything outstanding just a glossy up do of the original logo. But whats this? take a look below and you can see one of the figurines based off the characters in the film. Looks pretty similar right? It seems like Mr. Feig may have decided to give life to the logo’s ghost design.
The teaser for the trailer was also released a few days ago and you can view it below. The first full length trailer is said to arrive in March. Until then all we can do is speculate. I’m hoping that with the first trailer a lot of peoples worries will be laid to rest, if not, it will surely double the amount of hater-aid going around on my twitter feed.
Ghostbusters will be released on July 15th 2016.
